Dr. Jianli Dong is Professor, MD, PhD, MMS, Department of Pathology, and University of Texas Medical Branch, Canada. She received her medical degree from Guangzhou China in 1985 and worked as an internal medicine physician for several years in Beijing. She then received her PhD from University of Toronto, Canada in 1998, followed by a research postdoc at Yale University and a clinical fellowship in molecular genetics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. She is board certified in Clinical Molecular Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics. Since joining UTMB in 2005, she has successfully expanded the clinical tests performed in Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory. Currently she is Professor and Director of Molecular Diagnostics Division in the Pathology Department at UTMB. In addition to her busy workload in clinical diagnostics, she has actively engaged in research studies. In recent years, she has focused her research on two areas: RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK and p16-CDK4/6-RB pathways in cancer biology, and research and development of molecular assays for clinical applications.
