Biography:

Dr. Belay Tefera Kibret is an Associate Professor, School of Psychology and College of Education and Behavioral Studies at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He completed PhD in Psychology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece, 1999. Administrative Positions are Head of the School of Psychology of the Addis Ababa University (2013-2014), Assistant Director of the Institute of Psychology of Addis Ababa University (2010-2012), President of the Ethiopian Psychologists’ Association ( 2006-2008), Associate Dean of the College of Education (June 2004- November, 2004) etc. Membership in Professional Associations are Former Associate Member of the American Psychological Association (1997-1999), member of OSSREA-Ethiopian chapter, Ethiopian Psychologists’ Association (since 1993), as well as member of International Forum of Researchers in Education, (as of 2016 June 27). Teaching, research, and publications are taught courses in the doctoral and MA programs, supervised doctoral dissertations and MA theses, and supervised student field attachments. Have developed different academic programs for UG, MA, and PhD programs, produced numerous books (authored and edited books, modular textbooks, reading and training materials, manuals, handbooks) and research articles in scientific journals, attended many national and international conferences, personally organized conferences, offered short-term trainings, provided consultancy services. Reviewed research reports and proposals, (UG, MA, and doctoral) programs, journal articles, and (doctoral and MA) dissertation works.

Research interest:

Dr. Belay Tefera Kibret is interested in the fields of Psychological wellbeing in cultural context, child wellbeing and the invisible sides of child rights, children’s notion of wellbeing and coping to stressors.
